Free Cooling, software that estimates energy savings

Free Cooling involves the partial or total cooling power supply rather than that produced by a traditional chiller. The unit is equipped with an additional water battery and when the outside air temperature is at least 1°C lower than the temperature of the water returning from the installation, the battery can pre cool it or cool it completely.

The benefits of using the chiller operating in free cooling mode are greater the larger the difference between the cooling water temperature and the outside air temperature. The energy saving depends on the thermal profile of the place in which the chiller is installed and is directly proportional to the time of use.

The average energy saving is about 30% in Europe and reaches even higher values at higher latitudes. Applications of these units are varied; industrial processes dedicated to plastic molding or food industries, among others.
